One to Watch: Serena da Conceicao

Brooklyn based designer, Serena da Conceicao just launched her first ready to wear line for Spring 2013 and I couldn’t be more excited about it! With lingerie detailing and juxtaposed fabrics of leather and silk, this collection is fit to wear to a fashionable office setting and out for cocktails after. With great separates for ample layering, these pieces will complement your existing wardrobe. This is a Spring collection, but most of it can hang in your closet all year round, who doesn’t love a seasonless wardrobe? My favorite pieces include the dash print inset dress, dotted stretch tulle legging, drop waist lambskin culottes, and stretch tulle boyfriend dress…just to name a few. Be sure to visit her site to see the entire collection!

Halloween Costumes From Your Closet

I was just invited to the Hamptons for the weekend and have to throw together a Halloween costume for Saturday night. I always look in my closet before buying any sort of costume because chances are, I can put something together! I always look to icons for inspiration.

I initially thought Patti Smith would be perfect, but I don’t have the right haircut and I am not willing to spend the money on a good looking wig. But then I realized I would just look like a slightly more disheveled version of myself, especially because I would be wearing all of my own clothes.

Then I thought 90’s grunge would work, because this trend is having a moment right now, and it isn’t necessarily my style, but the pieces are easily  put together from my closet (and my boyfriend’s). Taking cues from Kurt Cobain of course…

I am leaning more towards 90’s grunge for this weekend’s festivities but still have some time to put together a costume for Halloween weekend. Who will you be this Halloween?

Alpha60 Spring 2013

Melbourne based brand, Alpha60 designed by a brother sister duo, focuses on silks and simply draped silhouettes. Alex and George Cleary know how to do simple without being boring. Their play on proportions and volume for Spring proves it. And we can’t ignore the shoes! This was their first shoe collection, and frankly I want every pair for my Spring wardrobe. I can’t wait to see what they do next!

A Perfect Fall Look

Laid back chic is one of my favorite looks, but hard to pull off. In this editorial from Rika Magazine’s Issue 7, the oversized turtlenecks, wide leg pants and comfy sweaters make up the perfect mix.

Reality Studio

Reality Studio is a collection designed by German designer Svenja Specht who is inspired by the social and cultural aspects of fashion. She designs for  the everyday, but also keeps in mind that as people adapt to new environments and surroundings, so should your clothing. I find her design method and aesthetic refreshing. Specht wants her clothes to exude the mantra “Do what you love and live now.” Well, I don’t mind if I do!

MMM for H&M

Maison Martin Margiela’s ad campaign for H&M was just revealed and it looks promising. I am not one for waiting in line for these collaborations, but I might make an exception on November 15th when this hits stores. In true Maison Martin Margiela fashion the collection is full of voluminous shapes and neutral colors. The Men’s garments are styles reissued from the archives. Boys, you would be crazy not to snatch up these Margiela classics at a fraction of the cost!

Raia Final Edit

A few weeks ago I posted some unedited photos from the Raia Jewelry photo shoot that I modeled in. Today I am here to share the final edited photos from the shoot.
