Flea Market Finds
October 5, 2009
I hit up the flea markets and vintage stores this weekend and found a few great pieces!
At the Garage Flea Market in Chelsea I picked up this necklace… The woman asked for $45 and I got her down to $20! Love the geo shapes!

At Metropolis I picked up these vintage flats for $45, fit perfect and oh so cute with a pair of cuffed skinny jeans!

DeSmitten in Lonny Magazine
October 1, 2009
A very good friend of mine, Michelle Adams has launched a new web magazine, Lonny with her friend Patrick Cline. They are inspired by LONdon and NY and it is evident in each page of the magazine. From fashion to interiors, the inspiration is endless!
Michelle so graciously asked me to be a part of the very first issue!
I am featured here with my favorite top 10 favorite items!
I am so proud of Michelle, and cannot thank her enough for including me in this amazing achievement!
DIY Business Cards…
September 28, 2009
My business card brainstorm session is finally over! I figured out the perfect card for me! I had a custom stamp made at Cassy’s Stamps… a small hole in the wall on 11th street owned by an old Irish man who knows his craft. My custom rubber stamp only cost $27. In the garment district I picked up a box of 500 garment tags for only $35. I changed out the color of the string and stamped my info on each. I plan to change out the color of ink through out time.
$27 custom stamp + $35 box of tags + $2 ball of string + $5 ink pad = total $69
I think they fit my personality and profession perfectly!

Recessionista DIY: Revamped Black Heels
September 21, 2009
I bought these Steven shoes 3 years ago at Buffalo Exchange for $20. They have been the most comfortable heels I have owned but I havent worn them lately because of the natural wood heel. I feel like the wooden heel is out dated… so I decided to do a little DIY project!!
BEFORE
Then I picked up some Black Krylon Spray paint and Black Shoe Polish.

I used the painter’s tape to tape off the leather shoe so I could spray paint the wood heel without damaging the leather. I also used a sanding block to rough up the wood heel so the paint would stick to it.
I used several light coats of spray paint to get the shiny finish on the heel. After letting the paint dry, I removed the tape and gave the leather a good polish…
VOILA!! For only $5 I have a new set of heels!!

Helmut Lang continues to be one of my favorites. The asymmetric lines and classic color palette makes everything timeless!

Jenni Kayne put sparkle into every separate, how lovely!

Florescent hues at Lyn Devon were breathtaking!

Ports 1961 had textures and prints that were very fresh!

Rachel Comey, another favorite had a delightful collection with amazing print mixing and vintage inspired silhouettes!

There is talk that Liberty of London is going to collaborate with Target to have a collection in the mass market store. Who can deny picking up such a beautiful Liberty printed frock at such a reasonable price? Things aren’t set in stone yet but I am keeping my fingers crossed that all will go well.
Here are some of their amazing Fall Liberty Prints for inspiration…

In the meantime I am gearing up for the new Anna Sui Collection (inspired by Gossip Girl) to hit Target stores!

Topshop Guests!
August 31, 2009
Originally, today’s post was going to be about how super excited I am about Christopher Kane doing a collection for Topshop… but then I couldn’t find any images! He is being super secretive apparently…
So then I found out that Neurotica is doing a capsule collection for Topshop London and I found these great images via Nylon Magazine.

Either way, I will still check out the Christopher Kane collection. Oh how I love Topshop!

First Fall Purchase of 09
August 12, 2009
I bopped into H&M last week just to get out of the office for a minute (work is driving me crazy!) and I picked up this ever so lovely black cardigan. It has just the right amount of sleeve interest for any occasion! I find myself drawn more and more to the sleeve/shoulder enhanced tops these days. But black always is best for these enhanced body parts!

It is a very nice interpretation of this beautiful turtleneck from Christian Lacroix’s Fall 09 Collection…

Reasonable Rompers
July 29, 2009
I know I have posted about Rompers before, but recently I found the romper depot at 80’s Purple. They have very reasonably priced rompers, and very cute ones at that! Some look comfy enough to wear to bed…

To start, the shop is featuring some of my handmade clothing. Soon to come, Kirby will be posting original wedding gowns and we will post some of our original accessories. We will be updating the shop frequently with new accessories and new separates. So keep checking in!
Here is a sneak peak at some of the looks available on the site…

Gap Gone Fashionable
June 16, 2009
The much beloved Alexander Wang is pairing up with the Gap and releasing a much anticipated little khaki collection.

The girls from Vena Cava have also hopped on the Gap band wagon.

If the clothes look as good as they do in these ads then I will be very happy to make a purchase!

Before the summer days started, I picked up a few tops at the Salvation Army while upstate in New Paltz. I fell in love with this easy breezy basic silhouette!

Scallops Anyone?
May 28, 2009
I always love a scalloped edge! I think it brings a sort of feminine quality to a garment. Here are some less traditional, more funky ways to use a scalloped edge…
Christopher Kane

And J.Crew is doing a more traditional-fem version (it comes in a great grey color too, but it wasn’t on the website).

Tap Dancer
May 26, 2009
This weekend I found 2 new favorite pairs of shoes that both resemble tap shoes…

Vintage Bally shoes for $10 at the Hell’s Kitchen Flea Market.

And these lil’ tap-shoe-look-alikes from Aldo for $50

Lil’ Lace Vintage Vest
May 19, 2009
This is my new favorite vest, I bought it for $3 at the Salvation Army… it is going to get a lot of love this summer!

Shoe Search
April 13, 2009
Since we have been having occasional Spring-like days, I have been searching for my must have summer flats. The ones I have come across thus far are either too simple to get excited about or too expensive to purchase knowing that they will only last me a few months (what can I say, the city is hard on the shoes). But today i came across 2 adorable flats from Urban… I have never purchased Urban Outfitters shoes, but I think I will venture over to the shoe section to try these 3 pairs on for size (all under $40!)…

I wouldn’t feel bad about throwing these guys away at the end of the summer, as long as they last that long!
Mary Pop In
March 26, 2009
I love the Spring Jalouse Super magazine! It is filled with some amazing spreads that are styled to perfection! This is by far my favorite… tons of shots mixing this seasons must haves with vintage accessories that can be found in granny’s closet! A Spring Look that I have to adopt!

Here is my own version…. wearing my own dress design, vintage shirt, jewelry and belt.
