Although the Spring 2009 fashion shows continue, I thought I would take a break from the shows and share with you a little something else.

My first must have from the Sex and the City film was Carrie’s vintage black studded Roger belt. As soon as I heard that Patricia Field was going to replicate the vintage belt I visited the boutique on a weekly basis to see if it had arrived. Finally it made it’s debut at the boutique, so I tried it on and fell in love! Then I found out that it was $120 and I had to take it off before I started to cry. A good friend of mine was lucky enough to get it for her birthday, so I may have to babysit it for her when she isn’t wearing it!! But I also found out that Patricia Field is offering it on her HSN special for only $44.00! I am going to try and get my hands on one and I hope that you can too!

Patricia Field’s Boutique $120

HSN Belt available in Chocolate with Silver Studs, Black with Gold Studs and White with Silver Studs $44.00.

We have continuously seen black and white for Spring 09 and this takes the cake! The prints and layered looks work together so nicely you don’t need color!

VICTORIA BECKHAM

I’m not surprised she jumped on the “I want to have a clothing line too” bandwagon but it was lacking in creativity. The entire collection consisted of almost the exact same pencil skirt silhouette that landed below the knee.

THAKOON SPRING 2009

I don’t think Mrs. Obama will be wearing any of the Spring collection, (she wore a Thakoon dress to the DNC) but I love the mix between the ditsy florals and the bondage dresses, somehow they all work together to make a remarkable collection.

PROENZA SCHOULER SPRING 2009

Target Takes Manhattan

September 8, 2008

For all of us trapped on the island of Manhattan, our dreams have come true… for only a few days this week (September 11-14th) Target bodegas will be set up around the city featuring home, fashion and beauty items from Target. The newest International GO collection by Jonathan Saunders will be available for purchase (before it hits stores on Oct. 5). I got a sneak peak at the collection and although there are many things for the fashionista, I don’t know how well it will do with mass market. Some of the items are a little too Super Hero for my liking. Also a 1990’s feel comes through with the silhouettes of the dresses. (I saw the garments up close and personal). The only thing I would buy is the black grey and white skirt in the first photo. Here are some looks from his collection, I will let you decide.

HAPPY SEPTEMBER!

Keep Your Eye On: Eryn Brinie

September 2, 2008

While soaking up all of the fall fashions in the September issues, I read an article (can’t remember which mag) about Eryn Brinie, a Korean based company inspired by French design and urban spirit. Awaiting the arrival of Topshop I was strolling down Broadway in SoHo and found that Eryn Brinie was open (almost directly across from the new Topshop location)! So I popped in and was pleasantly surprised by the innovative design,  muted color palette and lack of over-trendy silhouettes. Just when I thought I had seen every cute garment in the store, I discovered another and another… until I had a dressing room stacked of things to try on! After my small fashion show in the fitting room I found myself wanting to purchase only one garment!! I found  poorly constructed skirts, (fusible interfacing bubbling etc.) and silhouettes that flattered the hanger more than the wearer. The creativity behind each piece is brilliant and beautiful but the execution and fabrication in some cases were lacking. I highly recommend stopping by the store to admire the small feminine details and beautiful draping. The blouse I purchased was timeless and one of my staple colors… grey! Here are some of the outfits from the look-book and a few outfits I put together with my first fall item… my Eryn Brinie grey blouse!
